**BILLION•DOLLAR•CAT** (**$BDC**), Billy for short, is *the* Bitcoin cat memecoin: it's a cat, it's a ₿, it's the Bitcoin logo sideways!

# Bitcoin Runes

## Overview

Runes are a protocol for fungible tokens on Bitcoin created by [Casey Rodarmor](https://x.com/rodarmor), who launched the Bitcoin Ordinals protocol for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in early 2023. Runes are the next evolution of the BRC-20 fungible token standard originally built on top of Ordinals.

By using Bitcoin's UTXO model and the OP\_RETURN opcode, Runes improve Bitcoin's efficiency around fungible tokens as well as simplify their creation and management.

Similar to ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum, Runes can be used for different purposes. Currently, they're most often used for memecoins like Billy 😼

The Bitcoin Ordinals protocol enabled inscribing data, often images, onto individual satoshis on Bitcoin. This allowed for the creation of NFTs on Bitcoin.

BRC-20 is a fungible token standard built on top of Ordinals.

Runes were created to address some key inefficiencies with BRC-20s such as data bloat, incompatibility with Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions, and extra transactions to transfer BRC-20s.

# Quickstart

Learn how to use BillyBot in your Telegram group chat.

## Get started

To use BillyBot:

1. Create a Telegram group chat if you don't have one already
2. Add [**BillyBot**](https://t.me/billiondollarcatbot) to your group chat *as an admin (*[*instructions below*](#add-billybot-to-your-group-chat)*)*
3. Try out the alerts and commands like [Runes Buy Alerts](/billybot/rune-buy-alerts) or the [Floor Price Chart](/billybot/floor-price-chart) command

## Add BillyBot to your group chat

1. Open the [BillyBot](https://t.me/billiondollarcatbot) Telegram link
2. View BillyBot's profile by clicking it at the top
3. Click the `Add to Group or Channel` and select your group chat
4. Keep `Admin Rights` is toggled **on**, but disable all other permissions ([see below](#add-bot-configuration))
5. Click `Add Bot as Admin`

## Celebrate new buys and holders

3. Configure buy alerts using the other `/buys` commands 👇

## Configuration

* `/buys gif` - Set a custom gif image for all buy alerts (BillyBot requires admin permissions)
  * `/buys gif new-holder` - Set a custom for new holder buy alerts
  * `/buys gif big-buy` - Set a custom for ***big*** buy alerts (default: buys over $1,000)
* `/buys minimum $100` - Set minimum dollar amount for all buy alerts
* `/buys big-buy $1000` - Set minimum dollar amount for ***big*** buy alerts
* `/buys ticker $BDC` - Set custom ticker for amounts in the buy alert (example: 100 $BDC)
* `/buys` - See this list of supported buy alert commands

Make sure to configure the minimum USD amount if you only want to alert for higher value buys.

## Disabling alerts

Use `/buys unregister` to disable rune buy alerts 😔


# Price Dip Alerts

Learn how to set up and configure price dip alerts.

## **Help your community buy the dips**&#x20;

Alert a Telegram group chat when the price of a Rune drops by a certain percentage within a specified time window. By default, it alerts if the price drops by 5% or more within a 5-minute window.

Use the configuration options to increase or decrease the price dip sensitivity.
